A Note from the General Manager
I am excited to welcome everyone to another great season at Orchard Hills. As you all know, the country club business in general has experienced some difficulties. We are seeing many indicators that our club is ready to grow and prosper again. This is due mostly to our staff and Board pulling together and working harder than ever in the off-season. It will pay dividends not only this year but in the future.
Our staff is going to work very hard to make your membership at OHCC an even better value than ever. They are going to offer both new golf events and dining-social opportunities.
Please come out and see us and enjoy your club.

We are running a number of advertisements and promotions all geared to increase our membership for golf and dining.
For golfers we are offering 10% off for new members and 10% off for the sponsoring member. Or if you really like the person you can extend all 20% to them.
Membership Committee (Cont'd.)
We have a great promotion for Junior members (36 years old and younger) at $1500 per year. As always we find our best source for members is our happy existing members. We would appreciate any kind of help.
If you know of potential members you would like us to contact please call us or email information.
CLUBHOUSE NEWS
Hello April and your friend, Spring! It was a very long winter, and I am so very happy to see so many of you back. Thank you to all of you who came
to support us at Valentine’s Day, and St. Patrick’s Day as well. If the response we received on the season opener is any indication, I look forward to a record year for Orchard Hills!
During our shutdown period we spent a great deal of time trying to fix some of those rough edges and eyesores so many of you brought to our attention. I hope that the ambience of the dining experience has improved with the reorganization of the sound system, new paint in the lounge area, changes in lighting, and uniforms for the wait staff. Ladies, I hope the facelift of the downstairs restroom meets with your approval. It was necessary to do renovations in chewable chunks as to spread out costs and use as much existing labor as possible.
We are putting together a large push for new members again this year. We will be concentrating on Four Flags Chamber of Commerce, Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce (St Joseph), and Southwestern Michigan Economic Growth Business Alliance to offer the reduced Junior Membership and Social/Dining membership. Unlike last year’s Taste of Orchard Hills, these memberships are designed to give us a committed member that has chosen to spend the entire year with us, not just an inexpensive way
to play a private course.
As we embark on a new season, I would like to welcome each and every one of you to enjoy your clubhouse, eat at the restaurant, use the pool, and enjoy yourselves. As always, my door is always open. Please feel free to contact me with your comments, concerns, and requests, we are still building the menu and we can always use your input.
I would like at this time to ask for your help. I need members to help us with some of the special club functions or holidays. I am not talking about coming out and help us cook a meal but more of I need your ideas. How can
we do this better? What can we do about the pool this year? Can we do
parties out there? Would you come? We had a great Tailgating Party and Summer Solstice Party last year because members chaired the events. They let me know what they wanted, what they wanted to see happen, and they helped get the word out. THAT’S WHAT WE NEED! Every member loves to see a busy dining room, it’s exciting to be a part of something that has a sense of community about it. The board is so supportive and so very helpful, but they cannot do it all. It is your club as well.
Last thing, I promise. I need your email addresses. Events get added, plans get changed, new specials are constantly on the horizon. But how will you ever know? Orchard Hills uses email to send out weekly specials, flyers on special events, and changes to calendars. Paper and postage are expensive, and you pay for them with your dues.

Notes from the Chef
I would also like to say welcome back to all of the members who have been gone through the winter months. I hope that all of the changes discussed by Steve Szaday in the above paragraphs are to your liking. I also hope that the new 2010 menu looks acceptable. As you may or may not already know the existing menu is not complete, we will be adding a few more items for the beginning of April. We took time to discuss the feed back from last year as well as some ideas that other clubs around the area are using to try to put together a menu that has a little something for everyone. Again if there is anything that you would like to see for specials or static menu items feel free to let either Steve Szaday, or myself know and we will do our best to accommodate. I would also like to reiterate the importance of your participation in upcoming events as well as in the use of the dining room. The simple fact is… if you don’t come and enjoy your clubhouse and its facilities we cannot continue to spend money on events or on a menu that consists of more than just soups and sandwiches. Give us your ideas and we will help establish a committee. I feel that a phone call from a fellow member will be more effective than a call from myself or Steve Szaday. People will be less likely to confirm a reservation and not show up if a fellow member is running an event. Other than these things I feel that we are going to have a great year. Hope to see you soon and often.
Thank you,
Chef Steve Nebus
P.S. Any dietary restrictions or vegetarian needs beyond what is offered on the menu are more than welcome here at Orchard Hills. Just please call a day ahead for a reservation and I will personally discuss all available options
